Our photographic style is a combination of wedding photojournalism and artistic portraiture. A wedding itself is a very dynamic and emotional event. Rather than running through a checklist of "must take" shots, we observe and document events of the day. Our photo shoots are very casual. Our goal is for you to be comfortable, enjoy yourselves, and to have fun!
Who will photograph our wedding?
We, Katya and Arthur, will always be the primary photographers on the day of your event. We really value the relationships we establish with our couples prior to the wedding day. We learn about your personalities, family dynamics, and your expectations for the wedding day, etc. That kind of invaluable experience cannot be simply passed to anybody else! That's why we believe it's extremely important for us to be there on your wedding day. You wouldn't want a stranger to crash your party and we wouldn't want to do that to you either!
We LOVE weddings. High school sweethearts and recent newlyweds ourselves, we know the joys of companionship, love, and family. We consider it a true honor to become a part of somebody's very special day and wouldn't rather do anything else in the world. It's so uplifting to be with people at their happiest! Many of our clients become our friends and we keep in touch well after the wedding. It's so rewarding to be able to see families grow over the years and for us to be their historians, documenting celebrations big and small!
Do you only photograph weddings?
We love weddings but we enjoy other family celebrations and other assignments as well. As our clients' families grow, we look forward to maternity photographs, baby and family portrait sessions. We've been invited in the past to document baby showers and birthday parties. We have also done a number of bar/bat-mitzvahs and hope to be a part of their weddings when the time comes! We have done many commercial projects as well, including photography and design for a music CD cover. Unable to part with our cameras even during vacation, we truly enjoy travel photography.
How many weddings will you shoot on a given day?
We only photograph one event per day. This way we can dedicate all of our attention to the couple. If you are interested in our services for your wedding day, we recommend that you reserve our services as soon as possible.
How do we guarantee our wedding date?
Your wedding date will be reserved for you upon the receipt of a signed contract and retainer fee. From there on, we will not advertise your date to anyone else. For that reason, all retainers are nonrefundable. We would love to meet you at our studio to discuss your wedding plans and to show you our work. Please e-mail or call us to set up an interview.
We use state of the art professional digital cameras, lenses, and lighting equipment. We don't need to worry about running out of film during the key moments of the ceremony or count how much "film" we used during the event. If we see something exciting we shoot!
Do you shoot in black & white, color, or both?
All of our images are captured in color. During the editing and design process we go through each image to determine how a particular image would look the best.
Just like we wouldn't trust anybody else to photograph your wedding, we wouldn't trust anybody else to design your album for us, as well. We are the ones at your wedding, capturing emotions and atmosphere of your day. Staff designer at an album company doesn't know you, your personalities, or your tastes and preferences.
We normally ask you to select approximately 20-30 images of your absolute favorites. From there we do all the work for you. We will use the images from your selection and combine them with our picks to do the layout of your album. We will present our preliminary design either during a meeting or online. Usually our brides request no or minimal changes. After your approval of the final design we will proceed with printing and creation of your albums.
As a recently married couple, we understand importance of family portraits. Weddings are often the only place where the whole family comes together. Our portrait sessions are semi-formal and casually-posed. We might give some basic directions but will not spend a lot of time posing our groups.
Absolutely! We consider locations within one to one and a half hours drive to be local for us. We also photographed weddings in Oregon , New York City and Upstate New York. We will gladly travel anywhere in the world! Please feel free to contact us to discuss further details.
